It is interesting how much it looked like Federer struggled in the rallies against Djokovic and Nadal. It always seemed like he ends up on the back foot in a way no one else did.

that comeback from 2-5 in the 2nd set... changed the match. maybe changed the whole tennis history. if fed comes back to win this match, does novak have the 2011 he had? maybe he wins the RG and ends up with 3 slams anyway, but I doubt it. this match gave him the belief that he belonged. after winning the 2010 USO semi, he seemed shocked he pulled it off. after this one, the look was "yup, of course I won." and then he kept winning, and winning...

This match is proof that roger had an absolutely terrible backhand, that alone cost him a career post 2011

From 2-5 down to 7-5 in 2nd setz that too after a bad previous game when he fell twice and slipped.....all that effort to come back and still FedAl fans won't acknowledge he beat them both at their prime NOT decline. All 3 are GOATs but don't understand the selective love for FedAl

A common theme that hurt Federer the most against Djokovic in Fes's 30s was that Fed didn't play the tie breaks well. If only Fed has been stronger in these tie-breaks, he would have better than Djokovic in every single thing. Against Rafa it was a different thing as Fed has a glaring deficiency on those high backhands.

I wish federer had gotten a bigger raquet before 2017. His backhand was such a weakness. Only for Nadal AND djoko though. It served him well enough for 20 slams

From the beginning on, you could see Djokovic’s Goat-Recipe: uninventive, rock solid, labour-intensive ”tennis”. Federer’s style was too aristocratic in certain respects to deal with that in the long run.. nevertheless a disgrace that it worked out for Djokovic.

At his best, Djokovic was able to turn Federer to a counterpuncher. I don't think anybody else was able to accomplish this.

Federer was playing his best tennis but he still lost.. the shape of things to come in the future.. clearly Djokovic got his number from then on.. only 6 year before Federer and Nadal was mocking Djokovic…

No, Federer won ATP Finals 2010, Nadal on top. The truth is Novak Prime >>>>> Fedal Prime.

In 2011 Roger had 16 GS in his bag, and Novak only 1. & That's where RF Lost momentum thinking no one can Surpass him now.

I disagree, Nadal had 9 Slams and had just won the USOpen, which would make Federer's records even less comfortable. Since the young tennis player from Spain was 24 years old and was extending his achievements to the hard courts. The battle between the big four was at its peak.

This was Novak at his absolute peak with perhaps 2015/2016. This match hinged on the big points which Nole won. It's quite fitting that Fed beat Novak at RG in the semis ending Novak's 43 match win streak in what was Feds best performance on clay. Great match overall.
